Merrgsh and Armmegh were brought to my attention not too long ago over on the Candlekeep forums by none other than Eric Boyd himself. Published in Polyhedron #58 (March 1991) as part of a contest to identify a picture drawn by Jim Holloway, Merrgsh and his wolf Armmegh were written (by Wes Nicholson of Canberra, Australia) to be vaguely independent, but I thought, “What if they can be integrated with the orcish pantheon as a whole? How would that look?” And so here we are!
Tethrin Veraldé the Shining One
June 1, 2020Brilros the Battle Stallion
June 1, 2019Another member of the centaur pantheon, Brilros is the child of Fanthros and Naharra, and sibling to Linroth. He represents war, battle, and strength, and like his sister, is a youthful and vigorous power. He leads centaurs in the defense of their lands, and teaches their warriors strategy and tactics. Krocaa the Crimsonfeather
February 1, 2018Krocaa was introduced in Dragon #124 as the deity of the aarakocra. With DMGR4 Monster Mythology, however, he was replaced with Syranita. Combining the pair into a small pantheon required some alterations to his original characterization and dogma to make the pair synergize well, with Krocaa being more of an active defender than Syranita, with an additional emphasis on hunting.
Edit (Feb. 13): Reworked the Bones of Steel spell to be clearer on the effects. Read the rest of this entry »
Dakarnok the Raider
September 10, 2012The small kobold pantheon is filled with a number of local deified heroes and minor gods, few of which are genuine powers. Of those that have, Dakarnok is by far the most powerful and widely known. He has become the deity of kobold warriors, focusing on destruction and plunder.
Ilneval the Horde Leader
May 4, 2012Time for another deity, this time from the Orcish pantheon. Ilneval is Gruumsh’s lieutenant, called to lead Orcish armies when Gruumsh cannot. He is a consummate commander, focusing on strategy over brute force. He is generally the god of elite fighters and orogs in orcish societies, while Bahgtru is generally the god venerated by the regular orc warriors. Enjoy!
Hruggek the Decapitator
April 17, 2012It’s been a while since I had any deities read to post, but I have been steadily working, trying to get all the goblinkin gods done, but I’ve been working on individual sections rather than working on a single god at a time. However, I have gotten some more finished, so now it’s time to put them up and make them available! The first is Hruggek the Decapitator, the head of the bugbear pantheon! One thing I want to do but have not yet done is detail some of the heads he has in his cave in Pandemonium. I’m not sure just what I will do with them, or how powerful they should be. Let me know what you think!
Grolantor the Steading Lord
March 6, 2011Giantcraft, while fairly poorly designed, actually has a wealth of good information on giantish culture. I found it quite handy for this part of my project, and am looking forward to working on more of the deities, particularly Hiatea. Hopefully, what I’ve written here on Grolantor will inspire people to make some more interesting adventures involving hill giants, mountain giants, or ettins.
Sadly, I could not think of any Spelljammer references to make for him or his priests.
